The Register of Electors is a list of everyone in the District who is eligible to vote.
This year’s annual canvass to prepare the next Register of Electors begins on 26 August 2011. A registration form is sent to every residential property in the District. Completion of this form is compulsory and failure to respond is a criminal offence.
The annual canvass is conducted based on where you are living on 15 October each year. Once the canvass has been completed we publish a revised version of the register of electors by 1 December. You are only entitled to vote if your name is included in the register.
The canvass form is pre-printed with the names of the electors currently on the register at the relevant address.
The Edited Register
We have pre-printed your current choice of opting in or out of the Edited Register in the shaded column on the form. You must consider this choice every year. You must also ask each person named on the form if they want to opt in or out of the Edited Register. If you want to opt out of the Edited Register, please tick the shaded column. If there is a tick against your name and you want to opt in to the Edited Register then cross out the tick.
