Voting by Proxy

Your right to vote by PROXY

If for any reason you think you may not be able to vote in person it may be possible to nominate someone to vote for you; i.e. to vote by proxy.

Circumstances under which you may apply for a proxy vote:-

  • physical incapacity
  • living in a residential care home or sheltered housing accommodation
  • registered blind
  • employment or education makes it difficult to attend the polling station
  • a journey by sea or air would be involved to attend the polling station

Your proxy must be able to vote in the type of election concerned, although he/she need not currently be registered as an elector.

A person cannot vote as proxy for more than two voters, including yourself, unless he/she is the husband/wife, parent, grandparent, brother, sister, child or grandchild of the voter.

Contact us for an application form to vote by proxy.

NOTE: We cannot process forms electronically as a signature is required by law.
