Review of Parliamentary Constituency Boundaries

The Boundary Commission for England is responsible for conducting a general review of all parliamentary constituency boundaries every eight to twelve years.

The Boundary Commission has published its final recommendations for Parliamentary constituencies for West Yorkshire, which propose a reduction in the number of constituencies in West Yorkshire from 23 to 22.

The Commission has recommended that Leeds should be paired with Wakefield and allocated eleven constituencies.  One constituency will contain wards from both cities.  Wakefield is currently paired with Kirklees and together they have eight constituencies.

Details of the final recommendations can be found at the Boundary Commission (see under ‘Related Links’) web site.
