Expenses – What are Senior Officers entitled to?

See 'Downloads' for information about the claimed expenses for the Corporate Management Team for the previous month.

The Chief Executive

The Chief Executive, Joanne Roney OBE, is paid a salary that represents a proportion of the Council’s overall budget.

The Chief Executive is expected to work such hours as are necessary to ensure the job gets done. This routinely involves evening meetings as well as a standard Monday to Friday business week. Weekend working is often required too. Joanne is ‘on call’ at all other times, particularly to cover emergency planning requirements.

No extra payments are made for such extended hours. As such, the Chief Executive is able to claim for a restricted amount of legitimate business expenses, including business travel.

Corporate Directors

The corporate directors are also often required to work during the evenings and weekends, in addition to the standard Monday to Friday business week. They are also able to reclaim a restricted amount of legitimate business expenses, including business travel.
