The Council's two register offices, Wakefield and Pontefract, provides the following services:
- Registration of all births, deaths, still-births, marriages and civil partnerships within the Wakefield district.
- Civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies at the registry offices
- Issuing of certified copies of any birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificates that are in the custody of the registrar.
We also hold records of housing, births, deaths and marriages, which took place in the within the administrative boundaries of the Wakefield Metropolitan District from 1837.
