Registration offices in the Wakefield District

There are two registration offices in the Wakefield District, one at Pontefract Town Hall, and one in Wakefield.  Both are available to couples from both within and outside the District.

Marriages and civil partnerships in the Register Office from Monday to Friday are usually scheduled on the hour or half hour from 9.30am - 12.00 noon and from 2.30pm - 4.00pm.
On Saturday the ceremonies are scheduled at half hour intervals from 9.30am - 12.30 pm.

You are welcome to call at either office and look around the marriage suites before you book your wedding.

Pontefract Registration Office

Pontefract Registration Office is centrally situated on the ground floor of the Town Hall, a Grade ll building of Palladian design which dates from 1785. The building, which is surmounted by an elegant domed and collonaded cupola, forms an attractive terminal feature to the town's fine market place.

The newly refurbished ceremony suite includes a ceremony room with seats for 25 guests and standing space for a further 10 and the De Lacy Room which provides a facility for customers with mobility difficulties or those who wish to have a smaller, more private ceremony (on request).

Wakefield Register Office

Wakefield Register Office is conveniently situated on the ground floor of Egremont House, an imposing three-storey building, which has been sympathetically converted and retains many fine original features. The ceremony suite has high ceilings with ornate plasterwork and elegant lighting. It has seating for 30 guests and standing space for a further 10.
