If you have a disability or a long-standing illness which stops you from carrying out everyday tasks within your home, the Council's Adaptations Assessment Team may be able to help you.

The British Council of Disabled People (BCODP) was set up by disabled people in 1981 to promote our full equality and participation within society.

Contact A Family
Every day over sixty children in the UK are born or diagnosed with a serious disability and the vast majority of them are cared for at home. Contact a Family is the only UK charity providing support and advice to parents whatever the medical condition of their child.

The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) is an independent body set up by the Government to help secure civil rights for disabled people. This is now part of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Shopmobility is a scheme which lends manual and powered wheelchairs and powered scooters to member of the public with limited mobility, to shop and use the leisure and commercial facilities of the town, city centre or shopping centre.
