British Red Cross International Tracing and Message Service

Family separation is one of the many tragic consequences of armed conflict or natural disaster.

The Red Cross International Tracing Service enables families, which have been split up by war or disaster, to restore contact.  It is a confidential, free service.

The Red Cross Message Service enables families' separated by war and disaster to keep in contact and to share family news.  It is also free of charge.

The service is open to anyone regardless of age, gender, religion, nationality or status and is operated by staff volunteers. It can be carried out during working hours, at evenings and weekends in a location and a language convenient to the enquirer / client.

If you want to use or have more information on these services please contact us (see details below), or visit our website (see under 'Features').

If you are outside the Yorkshire area then you can find the address and contacts of your nearest local Red Cross office through:

  • our website
  • calling free phone 0800 169 2030
  • your local telephone directory - look under 'British Red Cross'
  • your local library
