Why apply?
As an Approved Supplier to Wakefield Council, you can automatically be considered for some of our contracts, mainly in the building, works and maintenance areas.
If you are interested in business opportunities with Wakefield Council, visit the SCMS web site (the link is in Related Links) and register absolutely free of charge.
As part of the registration process you are required to select categories of supply, service and works that are applicable to your business. If any of your categories of interest are linked to the approved lists, you will be prompted to complete the regional approved lists questionnaire as part of your registration process. An applicant can then re-attach their completed application form and any supporting documentation.
Once this information has been submitted, the Council will commence the vetting process.
Important note
For all businesses interested in applying, it is very important to read the information in the links below (Approved Lists application requirements, and Health & Safety) to ensure that your company can meet the essential criteria before commencing with the application form.
If you are unsure as to whether your business will meet the required standards then please contact Paul Bywater on (01924) 306969.
Whistleblowing
The Council has a Code of Practice to enable its employees, elected Members, agency workers, contractors and their employees to report any concerns they may have about any aspect of the Council’s work without fear of reprisals.
The Code explains what issues are covered by it and how they can be reported on a confidential basis.
Contractors and their employees may wish to acquaint themselves with the implications of the Code for them. Contractors’ employees may wish, for example, to report any breaches in the way in which the contract is being performed or any unacceptable behaviour by either a fellow employee or a Council employee.
The Code can be accessed in Part 5 of the Council’s Constitution or from 'Downloads'.
