Approved Lists application requirements

Please ensure that your business meets the following key criteria and that you can supply the following information before commencing with the application form.

Company Information: You will be required to provide the full address, registered address and some details regarding the background of the company and its board of directors.

Financial Information: Should your business wish to be considered for contracts in excess of £35,000, you must provide your most recent two years full audited accounts. Exceptions can be made for companies that have been trading for a period of less than two years, but the value of the work that you will be offered will be restricted to no more than £35,000 until you have traded long enough to produce accounts.

Insurance: Please ensure that your company has the appropriate insurance cover, to meet our minimum requirements or is willing to agree to meet these levels subject to being awarded a contract.

Technical Capacity and Resources: Your business should be able to provide the full address and contact details for three referees for each list category that you wish to apply for. In each case a named contact should be provided for each organisation.

Health and Safety: An applicant that is Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) registered won't need to take any further action, other than to confirm this position in the application.  A new applicant without CHAS has the choice of whether to apply for CHAS accreditation or provide the Council with some specific details on their approach to Health & Safety along with a copy of their current Health & safety policy. For further details, please contact the Strategic Procurement Team on (01924) 306969 for clarification of how the two approaches differ.

Equal Opportunities: Wakefield Council as a community leader will challenge any institutional discrimination within our own organisation so that we lead by example. In accordance with our responsibilities under equality and anti discrimination legislation and the requirements of the Equality Standard for Local Government our focus is on disability, age, gender and race. Therefore it is important that we understand the approach of each applicant business towards equality.

Environmental Policy: To ensure a better quality of life now and for future generations, Wakefield Council is committed to minimising its environmental impact. We therefore take a keen interest in the environmental policies of those companies wanting to do business with the council.
