Workplace inspections

The Health and Safety at Work team have a priority-based approach to undertaking workplace inspections. This essentially is based on the hazards and risks present in any particular establishment. Upon completion of each inspection each premises is risk rated according to how well the hazards and risks are controlled at the premises e.g. high risk premises with little control over the hazards will be inspected more frequently than premises with lower risks.

There is a rolling programme of inspections and with over 7,000 premises in total throughout the district of Wakefield the inspection programme is a constant source of work for the team.
