Maps

Maps have been integrated throughout our site providing location details or as map based data for information purposes.

We have listed below the main locations where you can access these maps.

Street maps
Links to maps showing the centres of all the main towns and villages in the district.

Where I live
Uses a simple address search to find useful information about your property. Information includes the bin collection days, council tax band, your councillors, school catchment areas, aerial photos ... and much more.

Find my nearest
Search for the nearest library, allotment site, sports centre etc. It can be found on the homepage but it is available at various places throughout the site - watch out for it in the right hand menu.

Historical mapping
Look back in time with our collection of historical maps. Use the 'Map Features' function to choose the date of the map. (It will show the 1851-1855 map to start with). We have also included the locations of historical photographs taken during the date of the maps.

Licensing maps
The Licensing Map will enable you to view all existing licences that are attached to a premise across the Wakefield District as well as new applications for licences.

Footpaths map (Wakefield District Public Rights of Way Map)
This is the map showing public rights of way in the Wakefield District. It is not the legal record of public rights of way but the information is taken from the paper copy of the definitive map which forms the legal record of public rights of way.

Gritting routes
The precautionary gritting routes map includes all of the roads that are considered essential to ensure that the main traffic routes, commercial routes and commuter routes across the district are kept free of hazards. These routes are treated when weather conditions are forecast by the Met Office which are likely to form a hazard on the highway surface, such as ice, hoar frost or snow.

LDF portal (Local Development Framework)
The LDF Portal has been developed to provide interactive maps and information with links to Local Development Framework documents.

Planning Applications database (Public Access)
Find out about planning applications and their progress with our real-time searching facility - Public Access. This allows you to search for applications and plans; view weekly lists or retrieve the planning histories of properties.

Hints

Quite often you will be provided with a static map image before the interactive map. Look out for the link below the image which will open the interactive map.

Once on an interactive map page you can move/pan around, zoom in/out and usually change the type of data that’s displayed to something else using the 'Map Features' control. Help on how to use the map is provided by a link on top right along with our Terms And Conditions Of Use. Also on the right are controls that will allow you to change the Ordnance Survey map to aerial photography or a Google map.
