Horbury

Among Horbury's magnificent 18th century buildings is one of the finest churches in Yorkshire, the chuch of St Peter and St Leonard, designed by locally born architect, John Carr.

The hymn 'Onward Christian Soldiers' was penned by the Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould while he was living in Horbury Bridge. It is also the birthplace of writer Stan Barstow.

	Horbury & Ossett District Lions Club Lions clubs are part of the largest Service Organisation in the world, with 1.4 million members in 186 countries and geographical areas, manned by male and female volunteers from within the local community.

	Horbury & Ossett Phoenix Rotary Club The Phoenix Rotary Club, is a service club whose members meet regularly, both socially and to perform charitable works either by direct hands-on efforts or by raising money for other charitable organisations and worthy causes.
